Ursuline High School welcomed Andre Elliott of The Sandy Hook Promise Foundation on September 20, 2017. Mr. Elliott presented the first of two high school self esteem assembles to the students. The program, entitled “Starts with Hello”, is designed to empower teenagers to create a sense of inclusion and community. The program was created to honor the lives of those lost in the tragic 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Families of the deceased formed this organization to “prevent gun-related deaths due to crime, suicide and accidental discharge so that no other parent experiences the senseless, horrific loss of their child.”
Ursuline High School is a community that fosters respect. The Sandy Hook Promise Foundation’s ideals are directly in line with the values of Ursuline High School. The follow up seminar is scheduled for early November. For more on the assembly, follow the WFMJ link to the story.
