Ursuline High School’s 112th Commencement will be aired Sunday, May 24 on our YouTube Channel, Facebook, and website from Stambaugh Auditorium beginning at 1:00 p.m. The speaker will be Sister Regina Rogers, O.S.U., former Ursuline Assistant Principal and current member of The Leadership Team for the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown and Pastoral Minister at Saint Edward Parish. Mr. Matthew Sammartino will confer diplomas for the graduating class.
Academic Excellence Awards will be presented to the top graduates of the Ursuline Class of 2020. Caroline Scharf is the Valedictorian with a grade point average of 4.64 on a 4.0 scale. Brady Leugers will be honored as the Salutatorian with a grade point average of 4.61 on a 4.0 scale.
Caroline Scharf is the daughter of Dr. Steven and Mrs. Renee Scharf. Her sister Abigail graduated from Ursuline in 2018. She is a graduate of Holy Family Elementary School in Poland and is a member of Congregation Rodef Shalom. Caroline is a National Merit Commended Scholar and a member of Ursuline’s National Honor Society. Throughout her time at Ursuline, Caroline has been an involved student. She is a two-time state qualifier for the Ursuline Speech and Debate Team, writer for The Irish Times, and a member of The French Club, Tennis Team, Students of Stewardship, and Student Ambassador. Caroline also has served her community through a variety of organizations such as Buddy Up Tennis, Youngstown Jewish Community Center, Congregation Rodef Shalom Lay Service Leader, Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley participant, YWCA Women with Bright Futures traning participant, AmeriCorps Health Success program participant, and the delegate to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Policy Conference. After graduation, Caroline will be attending Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Caroline will be studying Physics and English.
Brady Leugers is the son of James and Jennifer ‘90 Leugers. His brother Casey is a member of the Ursuline Class of 2023. Brady is a graduate of Saint Charles School and a member of the parish. Brady is a National Merit Commended Scholar and a member of Ursuline’s National Honor Society. Brady is a four year letterman on the Ursuline Cross Country Team. He also earned Varsity letters in Track and Field and and Soccer. Brady has been involved in a myriad of activities throughout his high school career. He is a member of the Student Council Executive Board, Students of Stewardship, Student Ambassadors, Math Club, Video Game Club, and helped on the Mooney Rally Planning Committee. Brady is an Altar Server and Eucharistic Minister at Ursuline and Saint Charles. Following graduation, Brady will be attending the University of Cincinnati to study Finance and Economics in the Kolodzik Business Scholars Program. Brady plans to be a Financial Advisor and Planner.
