Back to School 2022 - Ursuline High School

Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year.  2022 marks Ursuline High School’s 118th school year of Catholic education in the Mahoning Valley.  Our anticipated enrollment for the school year is 500 students.

All incoming Freshmen will report for orientation on Wednesday, August 17th at 7:55 A.M. until 12:15 P.M.  The Freshmen will follow an abbreviated schedule to meet with all of their subject teachers.  As part of the Freshmen Success Program, they will also meet their Senior Class Mentors and will be treated to a picnic lunch on the school grounds. All transfer students will report from 10:00 A.M. until noon on Wednesday, August 17th for an orientation session and enjoy a picnic lunch at the Shrine.  The opening day for all students is Thursday, August 18th. The faculty will include 3 Administrators, 2 Diocesan Priests, and 40 lay persons.

Ursuline High School will continue the “1:1 Program” for all students. The program provides each student with a Chromebook.  The devices help schools engage the digital generation by nurturing individual (1-to-1) learning experiences.  The Chromebooks will allow students to more effectively use Google Classroom, a learning management platform used extensively by Ursuline faculty.

New to the curriculum is Broadcast Journalism.  A section of the library has been transformed into a television studio for the Irish News Team.  Students enrolled in this course will produce a weekly newscast highlighting the life of the school, weather and special feature stories.

This summer included major renovations to the gymnasium and auditorium.  The gym’s ceiling was repaired and painted.  The floor was refurbished.  Both the gym and the auditorium had new sound systems installed.  The auditorium is in the process of a major renovation of the stage rigging which will make it easier and safer to hang scenery, change stage lights and operate the stage curtains.  The auditorium marquee has been updated to a digital marquee.  New lighting was also installed in the auditorium.  The capital renovations were funded by alumni, friends of the schools, the Ursuline Booster Club, KnightLine Screenprint and Embroidery, the Huntington Foundation, the Frank and Pearl Gelbman Foundation, the Ursuline Home and School Association and the Class of 2022.
