Back to School 2021 - Ursuline High School

Ursuline High School is excited to begin the 117th school year!  The estimated enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year is 468, 248 boys and 220 girls.

All incoming Freshmen will report for orientation on Wednesday, August 18th at 7:55 A.M. until 12:15 P.M.  The Freshmen will follow an abbreviated schedule to meet with all of their subject teachers.  As part of the Freshmen Success Program, they will also meet their Senior Class Mentors and will be treated to a picnic lunch on the school grounds. All transfer students will report from 10:00 A.M. until noon on Wednesday, August 18th for an orientation session and enjoy a picnic lunch at the Shrine.  The opening day for all students is Thursday, August 19th.  All students must be in uniform.  2021 marks Ursuline High School’s 117th school year of Catholic education in the Mahoning Valley. The faculty will include 3 Administrators, 2 Diocesan Priests, and 38 lay persons.

Ursuline High School will continue the “1:1 Program” for all students. The program provides each student with a Chromebook.  The devices help schools engage the digital generation by nurturing individual (1-to-1) learning experiences.  The Chromebooks will allow students to more effectively use Google Classroom, a learning management platform used extensively by Ursuline faculty.

Introduction to Film and Video Production has been added to the curriculum.  Swimming is a new Athletic Program for 2021-22 school year.  The Saint Patrick Engineering Club is a new STEM Program which will meet several times throughout the year to complete special engineering related labs with the assistance of engineers and university engineering students.  The labs will allow students to experience simulations and projects similar to the work of an engineer.  The labs are provided by Engineering Tomorrow and Ursuline is the first Ohio school accepted to participate in the program.

Several capital improvement projects were completed this summer:  roof replacement of the gym, stage and classrooms in the northeast section of the building, upgrading of the hallway adjacent to the cafeteria and stair landing; first floor hall classrooms (rooms 122, 123, 124 and 125).   This project also included asbestos abatement, new flooring, lighting, ceilings and air conditioning.   Nearly 85% of the building has air conditioning.  The total project cost was $380,000.

The opening of school prayer service led by Ursuline President, Rev. Richard Murphy (’72), is scheduled for Thursday, September 3rd.
