Merici Med Program at The Cleveland Clinic - Ursuline High School
Ursuline Alumnus, Dr. Clayton Petro ’03, is currently employed as an Abdominal Core Health Surgeon at The Cleveland Clinic and Assistant Professor of Surgery at The Lerner College of Medicine.  Dr. Petro welcomed Ursuline students involved with the Merici Med Prep Program to attend the Mini Medical School Boot Camp on Saturday, April 20 at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland.  Dr. Petro was a Co-Chair for the event.
Ursuline students had the opportunity to experience the world of medicine and minimally invasive surgery.  The day’s agenda included an expanded hands-on skill lab and the Top Gun Interactive Experience.  The Mini Medical School was designed to expose high school students to the field of surgery through hands-on experience and simulation. Organizers want to help students begin to appreciate that operating room work is exciting, rewarding, and important work. Surgeons volunteered their time to mentor the students throughout the program.
Ursuline would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Petro for including our aspiring medical professionals in this one-of-a-kind experience.  He is pictured in the blue sweater with the UHS delegation to Mini Medical School.
