Technology Facilities & Equipment
Digital Research Lab
The Digital Research Lab is utilized by teachers and their classes for instruction, projects, and research. Students also have access before and after school to the lab. The lab houses 30 desktop computers with internet access as well as printing capabilities. In addition to productivity software, such as Microsoft Office, teachers will be able utilize databases, Rosetta Stone, John Baylor Prep, and other research and study tools.
1:1 Chromebook Program
Ursuline students will be issued a Chromebook for their Ursuline experience. The 1:1 Chromebook Initiative is directly tied to our goal that all students will have the technological skills to be successful at college and career levels. The Chromebook program will help foster important skills, such as collaboration, communication, and creativity in the classroom.
The Lyden Lab
Created in 2014, the Lyden Distance Learning Lab allows students to learn from world renowned organizations on a myriad of topics. Students video conference with professionals as an expansion of the classroom curriculum
Wireless Mobile Laptop Carts
The school has three mobile wireless laptop carts each containing 30 laptops. Carts are available in the Learning Center or in the teacher’s classroom.
The Library / On-Line Databases
The library is available to all students during study hall and after school. Students have access to computers and printers, as well as the school’s many on-line databases: Facts on File, iNet Library, Infotrac, and CQ Researcher.
Art Department
The Digital Art Studio affords Ursuline student artists access to top of the line technology. Students make use of Adobe Photo Shop, Adobe Page Maker, Premiere, iMovie and other art or design related software, as well as digital cameras and digital video cameras. The Digital Photography Studio houses 30 Macbook computers, as well as professional quality printing equipment. Students use the Photoshop software to edit and create photographic works.
Global Languages Labs
The school’s foreign language classes make use of the Rosetta Stone software, which is a software based immersion language experience for students. Students may also utilize Rosetta Stone for on-line independent of one of twenty languages.
Smart Board Units & Promethian Boards
Teachers use the interactive whiteboards to enhance instruction and engage students in a variety of ways including Smart Board applications such as dissection, note taking, collaboration, Internet activities and class discussions. Each academic classroom houses a complete Smart Board unit.
John Baylor Prep / On To College
Ursuline High School has purchased the John Baylor Prep ACT/SAT preparation program for each junior and senior student. This resource offers a comprehensive ACT/SAT curriculum for students to prepare for these important college entrance exams. Students will receive user names and passwords in school, as well as a test preparation booklet. For more information, please visit the Guidance Services page.
Study Island & PowerSchool
Among the many instructional technology tools available to students and teachers at Ursuline is Study Island, a standardized test (Advanced Placement and ACT/SAT) preparation web based preparation program that can be tailored to focus on a student’s academic deficiencies and used at school or home. Ursuline uses PowerSchool, a web based grade book that allows parents access to their student’s grades and the opportunity for on-line communication with teachers.
