AP Biology
Summer 2008
Assignments
In order to cover the required material for the Advanced Placement
biology course it is essential that summer reading cover some of the
concepts that are difficult to reach in the regular term. The
assigned chapters have been selected because they are less difficult
and lend themselves well to self paced instruction. The text that
you need is Biology, Seventh Edition by Campbell, Reece and Mitchell.
Please see Mr. Mohr to pick up a text if you have not already done
so. Six chapters from this text have been selected as you summer
assignment. To assist you in your study I have made several
resources available to you. I would suggest the following sequence:
- read the chapter;
- review the online chapter notes;
- read the chapter again;
- review the summary section at the
end of the chapter;
- review the questions at the end
of the chapter;
- take the online chapter quiz.
Suggested dates for the study of each chapter have been provided
although you may pace as you wish. The only firm date is that the
online quizzes for all chapters will be completed by the first day
of class in the fall of 2008.
The quizzes are to be taken online and may be taken as many times as
you wish to master the material at hand. Students may take the
quizzes open book. You may also collaborate with other students.
There will, however, be a closed book test on the material covered
over the summer when you come back in the fall. This test will have
many of the same questions as the take home quizzes. Click the link
in the table below to read the lecture notes or take the on line
quiz.
