Academic Challenge Team:

The Academic Challenge is a quiz bowl type competition where students compete against other schools answering questions about History, Science, Literature, and other subjects. The shows are aired on television from September to June. It is open to all students.


In the 2003, UHS competed and won the competition.  Ursuline received the Howard Jones Memorial Trophy and $5000 in scholarships to Youngstown State University.

The Ursuline team of five seniors, including Brett Neely, Aaron Bagnola, Paul Marich, Emily Duda, and Josh Hill, defeated Columbia, Kennedy Catholic and Bristol High Schools, all by margins of one hundred points or more. T

In the semifinal round Ursuline defeated Cardinal Mooney High School by the score of 490-290. The score of 490 was the highest in the tournament.

And in the final round, Ursuline defeated Lisbon 390-340.
